We were first-time homebuyers who were not excited after interviewing several mortgage brokers/bankers (including our own long-time credit union). No one seemed responsive, prepared for the meeting, or to be thoughtful about the loan options we wanted to look at. We tried a meeting with The Mortgage Reel based on Yelp reviews and are glad we did.
After our first meeting with Keith Akada, we knew we were staying with these guys. They are patient but don't talk down to real estate newbies. They follow up quickly by text, phone, or email when you have a question. They ordered independent legal analysis (their expense) when the house we wanted was discovered to have an unusual title provision. All the other real estate professionals we worked with on the purchase--real estate broker, escrow people, title company--went out of their way to compliment their work.
We have already recommended these guys repeatedly because of their work ethic, responsiveness, and general likeability. It is such a relief to find these guys: working with them feels nothing like hassling with a large, faceless bank.

I had the opportunity to work with Steven Fujita recently on my refi and I have to say the service and experience was great. I had been looking for a good opportunity to refinance and take advantage of lower interest rates.
In the past, I've shied away from other refis because the mortgage broker would hand me a stack of documents and basically said "fill this out, then come back to me later". In those instances it felt like they were far more interested in an easy paycheck than taking care of a customer -- what if I had questions? What if I was unsure if a 30 year vs a 15 year was better suited for me?
Luckily, on recommendation I contacted Steven and am happy to say that my interactions with him were the complete opposite!
Steven was informative and always kept in contact for any relevant happenings. He was able to explain the market and kept expectations in line with how to proceed. I'm also a person that prefers to be as hands off as possible (heck, aren't we all too busy at work during the day to be tied into non-business phone calls, etc?) and Steven was respectful of that -- he answered emails when I wrote to him in email, he responded to texts when I texted and he called me only when necessary. I appreciate his style and ability to accommodate a customer's preferred method of communication.
When we met up in person to go over the mortgage details, he demonstrated a strong depth of knowledge and was very open and frank about all the questions I had.
I can't recommend the experience enough - the whole process from start to finish lasted less than 40 days and delivered on all fronts.
