Jobless claims did drop to the lowest reading since April of 2006 but two states did not report numbers.

How Does This Affect My Mortgage Rate?

Yes the unemployment claims are at a 7 year low, but the number will be revised in the next few weeks.  Overall companies are not laying employees off but the hiring of new employees continues to move at a slow pace.  The market statistics say there is one job opening for every 3 people.  With the slow pace, hopefully this will continue to help maintain low mortgage rates.
