Seattle Mortgage Rates Today 9/6/12: “Well, isn’t that special, Mario.”  Today’s announcement from European Central Bank President, Mario Draghi, negatively affected mortgage bonds.  Early this morning, Mr. Draghi announced that the ECB will implement a bond-buying program aimed at Italy and Spain.  Although this was expected, markets continued to hold off on trading until the news was publicized.  He went on to state that they will do whatever it takes to save the Euro.  Germany must be in agreement since the ECB will not start the presses to buy the bonds; rather, they intend to sell off assets to raise the capital needed to purchase the troubled nations’ government bonds.
