With NYE tomorrow this week will be a short week.

Typically mortgage rates rise this time of year and the housing market slows a bit because of the holiday season.  As soon as 2014 begins, will the real estate market kick off like last year or will 2014 be a balanced market?  Will prices of homes continue to recover and buyers compete with escalation clauses?  Or will slightly higher mortgage rates prevent people from spending more?
