Positive economic reports prevented any positive gains to the mortgage rates today. Private employers added 188,000 new jobs in June with a benchmark of 135,000. Beating the expectations by a sizable margin negatively impacted the bonds.
How Does This Affect My Mortgage Rate?
Mortgage rates are up today by a very small margin. With the holiday tomorrow the market is closing early at 11am PST. Friday the market will reopen and the unemployment rate and government payroll reports, both are huge for the market. Friday could be a volatile day with both reports, stay tuned!
